Kennon Borden

Kennon Borden is the founder of Borden Real Estate and principal broker in charge.  A native of Durham, Kennon is a UNC- Chapel Hill graduate who has over 25 years of commercial real estate experience.  He lives and breathes real estate, every working hour of the day. Since starting Borden Real Estate in 1989, Kennon has trained and supervised over 15 commercial brokers. He has built a brand recognized in the Triangle for its customer service, local market knowledge, and effective solutions.  Kennon is also a state-certified general real estate appraiser who has worked extensively on real estate development and management.  In his spare time – not that he has much to spare – he is active in the Kiwanis Club of Durham.

Tom Tolley

After growing up in Western North Carolina, Tom Tolley graduated from UNC in 1982 and earned his MBA in 1988. Armed with two degrees, he first worked on budgeting and property valuation for the State of North Carolina, then developed products and physician payment systems for a health care insurer. In 1997, he earned his appraisal license, founded Borden Tolley Appraisal, and never looked back. Tom is an NC Certified General Appraiser, qualified to work on any kind of property, statewide. He has appraised all kinds of commercial and residential properties. You name it, he’s probably done it. With experience in the Triangle, surrounding counties, Wilmington, Greensboro and Charlotte, Tom may know NC property values better than anyone. He also has his real estate broker’s license and specializes in commercial brokerage.

Robert Lacy

At the University of Connecticut, Robert Lacy studied Business Management and at Manchester Tech, he earned an Associate Degree in Hotel Management. He began his career working for Marriott International in Washington, DC contracted with the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. After 15 years of national hotel acquisitions, sales and operations, he began his Commercial Real Estate career with Borden in 2004. Dealing primarily in medical and office sectors, Robert’s local and national real estate clients have included US Oncology, Carolina Hearing Group, Gentiva, Chiropractic Partners, B & D Behavioral Health Services, Signal Design, JMC (USA) and US Letter Carriers. As a 14-year resident of Durham, Robert has been involved with the Triangle Business Professionals, the Triangle Medical Alliance Group and the Triangle Commercial Association of Realtors

Hunter Bost

A wide skill set and extensive experience make commercial real estate a great fit for Hunter Bost. Starting in New York, Hunter worked for Price Waterhouse in its offshore investment company services group and Merrill Lynch’s global technology banking practice. As a principal of Electra Partners in New York, he focused on investments in technology, healthcare and specialty retail. He also put his Spanish to use managing the firm’s Latin American investments. Most recently, Hunter led McDuff Capital’s North Carolina offices, focusing on small manufacturing, construction, multi-family, residential and commercial real estate development. He was a Morehead Scholar at UNC, got his MBA from MIT and attended Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.  Married with two children, Hunter spends his time outside the office taking pictures, fly fishing, playing golf and cooking.

Chris Spence

Chris is a proud Durham/Chapel Hill native with deep roots in the real estate market. After graduating from Durham Academy, Chris earned a BBA from the Southern Methodist University Cox School of Business in Dallas, Texas. He then spent the next 20 years traveling all over the world – to six of the seven continents – as a manager/co-owner of a high-end travel company. Since coming home in 1995, Chris has also been involved in dozens of successful commercial and residential investments, which resulted in his 2014 decision to transition into the real estate appraisal and brokerage business.  At Borden Real Estate, Chris is known for his attention to detail and friendly, professional customer service. He’s also known for his deep appreciation of his incredible wife and two kids; who keep him grounded and grateful.
